The Empress Regnant’s Enchanting Consort (7)
His eyes were full of deep, biting pain. “What’s wrong with a man? I’m the only one left from the Feng family. If not me, then who?”
If not, how could he have believed this official’s words?
And carry out this deadly assassination?
The official snorted. “Your younger sister, Her Highness Princess1 Feng Ling, faked her death to escape calamity. She is the most legitimate heir; what are you?”
Feng Yunian’s voice finally shook. “Feng Ling?”
The official said: “You kill the traitor Bai Weiwei, we kill you, then we will welcome Princess Feng Ling as empress.”
Feng Yunian’s face was ashen. He gave them a stern look as a feeling of utmost despair surged in his heart.
Because he was a man, it was right for him to be abandoned?
It was right for him to be used?
The official said ruthlessly: “Someone come, kill them!”
A soldier, armed with a knife, immediately charged forward.
Feng Yunian watched the knife slash at his head.
He already had no strength to resist. His head was blank as he waited to die.
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around his waist. A great strength tugged him into a soft embrace.
Feng Yunian’s eyes flashed with shock, and the sword in his hand was snatched away.
With a flash of white light, the sword blocked the knife aimed at Feng Yunian.
The sound of the blade against blade brought Feng Yunian to his senses.
He looked up and saw Bai Weiwei with a faint smile. She still had the signs of being poisoned.
Her voice was soft and muted, “Excellent; the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.”
Seeing that she was fine, the official’s face turned ugly.
“Your Majesty, you weren’t poisoned?”
Bai Weiwei’s voice was as calm as the breeze. “What kind of poison do you want to see? If it’s emotional poison, the bottom of Zhen’s heart has indeed been poisoned.”
This joke made Feng Yunian’s ears turn red.
She was still acting so indecent at this time.
But Bai Weiwei smiled at him. This smile, with the iciness dispersed, was full of womanly beauty.
It simply hooked one’s heart and soul.
Feng Yunian’s breathing hitched, and his heart skipped several beats.
【Ding. The male lead’s favorability is at -35.】
Bai Weiwei’s smile grew more profound. Her fingers lovingly lifted his lower jaw. “If you wanted Zhen’s country, why didn’t you say so earlier?”
Feng Yunian pursed his lips, his deep wariness unshaken.
What was this woman trying to do?
Why for him…
The next moment, his brain went blank.
She lowered her head.
His body shuddered.
His face reddened, and his watery eyes were full of anger and helplessness.
The official suddenly gave up pretending. “Everyone is under our control. Even without the poison, we can still kill them.”
Saying this, she took the knife and slashed down at Bai Weiwei’s body.
Bai Weiwei remained with her head bowed, without the slightest change in position.
The instant the knife was about to cut down, the sword in her hand pierced the official’s body, and she perished.
This sword was known as “Absolute Death by Piercing, No Discussion2.”
It had the unique ability to stab people to death, even if the sword hilt was used.
Being the best in the world indeed was a lonely pursuit of defeat, a Ximen Chuixue3, ah.
Feng Yunian hadn’t expected that Bai Weiwei’s martial arts had reached such a high level.
He looked at her, perplexed.
Bai Weiwei pulled away from his lips, the corners of her mouth hooked up. “Don’t be afraid, husband. Zhen will protect you.”
Saying this, she released him, jumped off the bed, and then shua shua shua! All the rebels were cut down.
This move was known as “Slicing Melons and Cutting Vegetables.”
As the name suggested; Once this move was used, everyone turned into white cabbages and watermelons in Bai Weiwei’s eyes.
She cut cleanly without any psychological burden.
Bodies littered the floor. Blood flowed like a river.
It was Feng Yunian’s first time feeling so shocked.
She was this powerful.
Bai Weiwei tossed the sword aside without a thought, her feet bare and her hair undone.
When dawn broke, She suddenly turned around with a smile and said: “Feng Yunian, Zhen likes you. Why don’t you try to love Zhen?”
Feng Yunian wasn’t prepared to be hit with this sentence.
His anger swelled. “Bai Weiwei, is it fun to tease me? If I love you, what will you exchange for it?”
How could someone change so quickly?
Like him? She was just making a fool of him4, ba.
Bai Weiwei turned her head to gaze out the window. The morning light struck her gorgeous face. It was beauty beyond the boundaries of reality.
Then Feng Yunian heard her say.
“Exchange? The country for a betrothal and taking you as a husband5, how about it?”
1: 公主: the daughter of the king or emperor.↩
2: 百分之百捅死你没商量: I wish this were a joke HAHAHA.↩
3: 西门吹雪: I thought this was an idiom at first, but it seems to be a character from “The Legend of Lu Xiaofeng”/”The Lu Xiaofeng series.” He’s known as the “God of Sword”/”Sword God” and is the best swordsman in the jianghu. It’s lonely at the top.↩
4: 跳梁小丑: a clown; a buffoon who performs antics.↩
5: 娶你为夫: 娶 is usually used for taking a wife, but in this world where conventional gender roles are reversed, it means to take a husband.↩
Cheese: there are many words that I’ve been leaving partly translated or changing into the gendered counterpart (e.g., “female official/soldier” → left as just official/soldier, emperor → empress), and I hope this doesn’t ruffle anyone’s feathers. I just dont see the point of emphasizing that someone is a female xyz when we’ve already established that only women can take up government and military roles. “official” and “soldier” are already non-gendered words, so leaving them be wont cause any confusion (i hope)
Piper: I’ve always wished that novels would use true matriarchy, instead of just blatantly flipping the gender stereotypes. In matriarchy, women would take up the mental tasks, leadership positions, innovation, family finances, etc. Men would be the protectors/ fighters, and the laborers. Women are inherently better communicators, and men are inherently stronger (not saying this is true for everyone because it totally is not, but statically, women get more degrees in higher education than men (SOURCE), and statistically men can become stronger then women (SOURCE). Once again though, there are always exceptions I didn’t say this to offend anyone, everyone is different.). So that is how a matriarchy would evolve, and be culturally run. So there wouldn’t be only female solders. idk, that just always ticks me off, and I want to write a quick transmigration novel with a realistic matriarchy, because they do exist irl, but are quite rare. Thanks for reading my rant XD
